Our Policies

Last reviewed: March 2026. These policies apply to all MEB tutoring services.

This page consolidates MEB’s commitments to students and parents across five areas: accuracy, originality, confidentiality, deadlines, and refunds. We have written this as plainly as possible. If you have questions about any section, contact us at meb@myengineeringbuddy.com or WhatsApp +91 8971 383660.

1. Accuracy Policy

We take accuracy seriously in all tutoring sessions and any study materials we provide. Our standard practice:

  • Tutors verify their work after each step, not just at the end
  • For complex problems, a second review is completed before session notes are delivered
  • Where a tutor is uncertain, they say so explicitly rather than guessing
  • If a student identifies an error in our explanation, the tutor corrects it promptly and without defensiveness

Accuracy in Different Subject Types

In mathematics and science, accuracy is objective. Either the final answer is correct or it is not, and the method used to reach it must also be valid. We consider a solution wrong if the final answer is incorrect regardless of whether some steps were right. We also consider a solution wrong if the approach is fundamentally flawed, even if the final answer happens to be correct through coincidence.

In essay writing, critical analysis, and other subjective work, accuracy has a different dimension. The quality of subjective work depends on how well it meets the rubric and the specific requirements of the assignment. A technically correct essay that ignores the rubric will receive a poor grade. Our commitment in subjective work is to meet the stated requirements as closely as possible.

When the Accuracy Guarantee Does Not Apply

  • The question provided contained errors, missing information, or ambiguous instructions that made it impossible to solve correctly
  • Our solution was correct, but the professor’s preferred method or notation differed and they deducted marks accordingly
  • Our solution was correct, but the official answer key provided by the institution was wrong
  • The deadline was too short for our standard review process, and the student was informed before we proceeded
  • The student transcribed or submitted the solution differently from what we provided
  • The student shared session materials with another student and both received academic penalties

If you believe your situation falls into a grey area, contact us and we will review it fairly.

2. Original Work Policy

All study materials, worked examples, and session notes produced by MEB tutors are prepared specifically for the student who requested them. We do not recycle solutions between students. If two students approach us with the same problem, they are assigned to different tutors who produce independent work.

How We Ensure Originality

  • Tutors work from first principles rather than rephrasing existing sources
  • We do not maintain a shared solution bank that tutors draw from
  • No student’s materials are shared with another student under any circumstances
  • For written work, tutors conduct original research and write independently
  • Written work is checked with a plagiarism checker before delivery

What Counts as Plagiarism

Copying someone else’s work verbatim is plagiarism. Replacing words with synonyms without genuinely engaging with the material and doing independent research is also plagiarism, even if it passes automated detection tools. Our tutors are trained to the stricter standard: original thought, independent structure, proper citation of sources.

Outside the Scope of This Policy

  • If plagiarism detection flags work unfairly (for example, because a professor is comparing submissions to a distributed answer key), that is outside our control
  • If a student shares materials with a classmate and both submit similar work, any academic penalty is the student’s responsibility

3. Confidentiality & Privacy

Your personal information, academic details, session content, and identity are never shared with anyone outside MEB without your explicit permission.

What Tutors Can and Cannot See

Tutors are given access only to the materials relevant to your session — the subject, the questions, any notes you share, and your session history with that tutor. They do not have access to your contact information, payment details, or any communications you have had with our student helpline team.

How We Protect Your Data

  • Communications over WhatsApp and email are not shared beyond the MEB team members involved in your sessions
  • Payment processing is handled through secure, PCI-compliant gateways
  • Access to student records is restricted to staff with a direct operational need
  • All staff complete mandatory confidentiality training as part of onboarding
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third-party advertisers or marketers

Data Deletion

If you wish us to delete your data, email meb@myengineeringbuddy.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request.” We will process your request within 30 days. Our full privacy policy, including GDPR and CCPA details, is available on our Privacy Policy page.

4. Deadline Policy

We understand that deadlines in academic life are often rigid. Some professors apply grade penalties for submissions even minutes late.

How We Manage Deadlines

  • When you contact us, one of the first things we confirm is your deadline
  • We quote a realistic turnaround time and only accept your booking if we can genuinely meet it
  • Our internal target is always to deliver ahead of the deadline you give us, not at the last minute
  • The assigned tutor is followed up by our student helpline team to ensure delivery is on track
  • If the primary tutor encounters a problem, backup tutors can take over
We say no to unrealistic deadlines. If the time remaining is insufficient for the complexity of your work, we will tell you immediately and honestly. Accepting payment and then missing the deadline is not something we are willing to do. We would rather decline and protect your trust.

If We Miss a Deadline

In the rare case that MEB misses a deadline despite all our measures, we consider that a significant failure on our part. We will offer a full refund of the fee paid for that task. We do not offer credits as a substitute for a missed deadline unless the student specifically prefers that option.

What Is Outside Our Control

  • Platform outages (Google Meet, WhatsApp, email) that prevent delivery
  • Cases where the student did not provide complete requirements at booking and the additional complexity made the original timeline impossible

5. Refund & Money-Back Policy

Our money-back guarantee is real. It is backed by our founder personally and has been honoured since 2008.

Situations and our response:

  • Dissatisfied with a tutoring session: Contact us within 24 hours. We will offer a free replacement session with a different tutor, or a full or partial refund depending on the circumstances.
  • Tutor did not show up for a scheduled session: Full refund or a free replacement session. No questions asked.
  • We missed your deadline: Full refund of the fee paid for that task.
  • Session content was inaccurate in a verifiable way: Free correction session or partial to full refund depending on severity.
  • Charged incorrectly: Immediate correction and refund of the difference.
  • Cancelled more than 24 hours before a session: Full refund of any pre-paid session fee.
  • Cancelled less than 24 hours before a session: Refund at our discretion, reviewed individually. If the tutor can be reassigned, we typically offer a full refund.
  • No-show without notice: Typically no refund as the tutor has blocked time. Genuine emergencies reviewed case by case.

How to Request a Refund

  1. Contact us on WhatsApp at +91 8971 383660 or email meb@myengineeringbuddy.com (subject: “Refund Request”)
  2. Tell us your name, the date of the session, and the specific concern
  3. We will acknowledge within 24 hours and complete our review within 5–7 business days
  4. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7–10 business days
Our approach to refunds: We do not look for reasons to deny requests. Our goal is a fair outcome. In ambiguous cases, we tend to favour the student. A refund that restores your trust is worth more to us than the fee.

Situations Where Refunds Do Not Apply

  • Our work was correct and on time, but you changed your mind after receiving it
  • You received a lower grade than expected and our work was verified as correct
  • You shared materials with another student and both were penalised for similarity
  • You provided incorrect or incomplete requirements and the work was completed per what you provided

6. Grievance Process

If you have a concern that the standard support process has not resolved, you can escalate to senior management including our founder.

Grievances may relate to session quality, tutor conduct, billing disputes, refund delays, confidentiality concerns, or any other aspect of your experience with MEB. You have the right to appeal our initial response.

If you remain dissatisfied after our internal process, you may escalate to your country’s consumer protection authority — the FTC in the USA, the Competition Bureau in Canada, or your national consumer body in the Gulf countries.
