Inside A Session

Sessions run on Google Meet with a two-way online whiteboard. You and the tutor can both write, draw and annotate on the same board at the same time. You write your attempt, point at the exact step that lost you, and they take it from there — the same as sitting beside someone, minus the geography.

Sessions are voice and whiteboard by default. Tutor video is not standard; voice and a shared board carry the work. If you want video on, just ask and we will arrange it.

Share files — notes, PDFs, screenshots — over WhatsApp before the session, or upload them to the whiteboard during it. You are free to record the session yourself using Google Meet. MEB does not record from our side, but your tutor sends written notes afterwards, every time.

Before Your First Session

What You’ll Need

  • A laptop or tablet. A phone screen is too small for a shared whiteboard — please don’t try.
  • A stylus, ideally. iPad with Apple Pencil, an Android tablet with a pen, or a laptop with a digital pen pad. It transforms the experience.
  • A stable connection and somewhere quiet enough to talk.
  • Your materials. The problem set, the lecture notes, the rubric — whatever you’re actually working from.

Two Ways To Book

Use either, switch between them, mix them. There’s no plan to choose.

Scheduled

You book a specific tutor at a specific time, in advance. Best if you need regular support over weeks or months.

The advantage is continuity: the same tutor sees your progress, spots the pattern in your mistakes, and adapts. That compounding is the thing a one-off session cannot give you.

On-Demand

You message us needing help soon, and we connect you to whichever qualified tutor in your subject is free right now. No advance booking.

Best for a one-off blocker: a single problem you cannot crack, a concept that has to land before tomorrow morning, a deadline that moved.

A Human Picks Your Tutor. Not An Algorithm.

You will not scroll through fifty profiles trying to guess which stranger understands your course. Our helpline team reads what you sent and chooses the tutor with the right combination of subject depth, familiarity with your academic system, and availability at your hour.

Worked with someone before? Ask for them by name or tutor ID and we will assign them, subject to availability. If the first tutor is not right for any reason, tell us and we reassign at no extra charge. 75% of students find their preferred tutor on the very first trial session.

Online vs Face-To-Face — Honestly

The real advantage is the size of the pool. A local tutor is whoever happens to be qualified and available within driving distance. Online, you get the best available expert in your exact subject from anywhere on earth. For advanced, specialised or unusual subjects — where a strong local tutor may simply not exist — that difference is not marginal. It is the whole thing.

The real trade-off is self-discipline. Online tutoring asks more of the student. For younger learners, especially below Grade 9, we strongly recommend a parent or guardian nearby during sessions — not to supervise the teaching, but to provide the same presence they would in a face-to-face setting. For high school and university students, this is not a practical concern.

And then there is cost. Our tutors are mostly based in India, where the cost of living is lower than in North America or Europe. That is why you can sit with a genuinely expert tutor — most from IITs, NITs and equivalent institutions — at roughly half the rate of comparable in-person tutoring in the USA or UK. Not a discount. A structural fact.

One Thing We Will Not Do

MEB provides homework guidance within tutoring sessions as learning support. A tutor will work through your own problem set with you and show you the method. We will not complete graded homework, quizzes, exams or lab reports on your behalf, and we will not sit an assessment for you.

Questions Before You Start

No. There is no account, no app and no subscription. You WhatsApp or email us, agree a fee for the session you want, and pay for that session only.

A human replies in about a minute, any hour of the day. We typically have you matched with a tutor within the hour, and many students are in a live session the same day.

Tell us and we reassign at no extra charge. There is no argument and no penalty — a mismatch is our problem to fix, not yours to live with.

Yes. Ask for them by name or tutor ID and we will assign them, subject to availability. Most students who return do exactly this.

Not strictly, but it makes a real difference. The whiteboard is where the actual work happens, and writing with a finger or a mouse is slow. An iPad with an Apple Pencil, an Android tablet with a pen, or a laptop with a digital pen pad all work well.

We would rather you didn’t. The shared whiteboard needs screen space — a phone makes the session materially worse. Use a laptop or a tablet.

My Engineering Buddy (MEB) is a private online tutoring service founded in 2008 and operated by BlueAura iSolutions Private Limited. Booking works in three steps: a student messages MEB on WhatsApp or by email with their subject and level; a human member of the helpline team — not an algorithm — selects a suitable tutor and proposes a rate, which the student approves before paying; the session then runs live on Google Meet with a two-way whiteboard.
