Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using our website or services. By accessing myengineeringbuddy.com or using any MEB service — including contacting us via WhatsApp, booking a tutoring session, or making a payment — you agree to be bound by these terms.

In these terms, “MEB”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to My Engineering Buddy, operated by BlueAura iSolutions Private Limited (CIN: U93000BR2015PTC023959). “You” refers to any student, parent, guardian, tutor applicant, or visitor using our website or services.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Academic Integrity Policy.

1. Our Services

MEB provides private 1:1 online tutoring services delivered via Google Meet. Our services include:

  • Private 1:1 online tutoring sessions across 2,800+ subjects
  • Test and exam preparation tutoring (AP, SAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT, IB, A-Level, EmSAT, and others)
  • Academic guidance on homework, assignments, essays, lab reports, and projects — provided within tutoring sessions as learning support
  • Tutor matching, session coordination, and student helpline support via WhatsApp

MEB operates as a platform that connects students with independent expert tutors. Our student helpline team manages the matching process, session coordination, quality oversight, and customer support.

MEB is not an accredited educational institution. Our services are supplementary academic support, not a replacement for formal education.

2. Eligibility

  • Our services are available to students of any age worldwide, subject to the conditions below
  • If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your country), a parent or legal guardian must provide consent for you to use our services and must take responsibility for your use
  • Parents or guardians booking on behalf of a minor are bound by these terms and are responsible for the minor’s compliance
  • By using our services, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, or that your parent or guardian has done so on your behalf

3. Academic Integrity

This is the most important section of our terms. Please read it carefully.

MEB’s purpose is to help students learn. All tutoring sessions, explanations, and academic guidance materials are provided as learning resources. You agree to use all content provided by MEB tutors for your personal learning and academic development only.

By using our services, you agree that you will NOT:

  • Submit any solution, explanation, essay, or material provided by MEB as your own original work for academic credit without engaging with and learning from it
  • Use our services to complete assessments, tests, exams, or graded work during a live exam, quiz, or proctored assessment
  • Use our services in any way that violates your educational institution’s academic integrity or honour code policies
  • Share materials provided by MEB tutors with other students for the purpose of academic submission
  • Represent AI-generated or tutor-generated content as your own original independent work

MEB tutors provide step-by-step guidance with explanations specifically to support learning, not to produce ready-to-submit work. The responsibility for how you use this guidance rests with you.

If MEB receives clear evidence that our services have been used to facilitate academic dishonesty, we reserve the right to terminate the relationship with that student immediately and permanently, without refund.

For our full position on ethical tutoring and what we help with, see our Academic Integrity Policy.

4. Booking and Payment

4.1 How to Book

All bookings are arranged via WhatsApp at +91 8971 383660 or email at meb@myengineeringbuddy.com. There is no mandatory registration on our website. No subscription is required.

4.2 Payment

  • Payment is required in full before tutoring sessions begin, unless otherwise agreed in writing
  • We accept PayPal, credit card, UPI, Indian bank transfer, and international bank transfer
  • All prices are quoted and charged in USD unless otherwise agreed
  • We also accept CAD, GBP, EUR, AUD, INR, KWD, AED, SAR, and other major currencies — exchange rates may apply

4.3 Advance Payment Requirement

We require advance payment before work begins because, in an online environment, we have no mechanism to collect payment after services are delivered to international clients. This is standard practice for online tutoring services. We understand this requires trust — which is why we offer the $1 trial session so you can evaluate quality before any significant commitment.

5. Pricing

5.1 Tutoring Sessions

Our standard tutoring rates are structured by academic level:

  • School level (Grade 10 and below): from $20/hour
  • College aspirant (Grade 11–12, AP/IB preparation): from $25/hour
  • College/undergraduate level: from $30/hour
  • Masters level and above: from $35/hour

These are starting rates. The final fee is agreed between you and the assigned tutor based on subject complexity, specialisation required, and session length. All fees are quoted and confirmed before you pay — there are no hidden charges.

5.2 Trial Session

New students may book a 30-minute 1:1 trial session with a tutor of their choice for $1. The trial session is a real session with the same quality standards as any paid session.

5.3 No Subscriptions

MEB does not offer or require subscriptions. You pay only for what you book. We will never auto-charge you. Notwithstanding any earlier version of our terms that mentioned subscriptions or membership fees, that model is not operated by MEB. You are under no obligation to book future sessions after any single session.

5.4 Price Changes

Tutor rates may change over time. Any price change will only apply to sessions booked after the change is communicated to you. Sessions already paid for are not subject to price increases.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

Our full cancellation and refund terms are documented in our Refund Policy. In summary:

  • Cancellation 24+ hours before a session: full refund
  • Cancellation 2–24 hours before a session: 90% refund
  • Cancellation less than 2 hours before a session: 80% refund
  • Tutor no-show: full refund or free replacement session
  • Genuine dissatisfaction with session quality: contact us within 24 hours for a replacement session or partial to full refund

Refunds are returned to the original payment method. The MEB money-back guarantee is backed personally by our founder.

7. Session Conduct

7.1 Student Obligations

To get the most from your sessions and to ensure tutors are treated fairly, you agree to:

  • Join sessions on time or provide reasonable advance notice if you will be late
  • Have a stable internet connection and working device for sessions
  • Communicate session requirements clearly and provide relevant materials (lecture notes, textbooks, assignment briefs) in advance where possible
  • Treat tutors respectfully in all communications
  • Not record sessions without the tutor’s explicit consent
  • Not attempt to contact tutors directly outside of the MEB platform without MEB’s knowledge

7.2 What to Expect From Sessions

  • Sessions are delivered 1:1 via Google Meet with a qualified human tutor
  • Tutors will have reviewed your materials and requirements before the session where you have shared them in advance
  • Tutors will provide session notes and follow-up materials via WhatsApp within 24 hours of the session
  • If you are unhappy with a session, contact us within 24 hours — not after multiple sessions have passed

7.3 Specific Instructions

If you require a solution or explanation in a specific format, methodology, or style (for example, per your professor’s lecture notes), you must communicate this clearly before the session begins. We cannot guarantee adherence to specific stylistic requirements that are communicated for the first time during or after a session.

8. Tutor Standards

All MEB tutors are independent contractors, not employees of BlueAura iSolutions Private Limited. However, they are bound by MEB’s quality standards, which include:

  • Verified academic credentials and subject expertise
  • Adherence to MEB’s tutoring methodology and academic integrity policies
  • Professional and respectful communication with all students
  • Preparation before sessions, punctuality, and delivery of session notes
  • Ongoing performance review based on student feedback

MEB reserves the right to reassign, retrain, or remove any tutor at any time based on performance or conduct. If you are assigned a tutor who does not meet these standards, contact us immediately and we will arrange a replacement.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 MEB Content

All content on myengineeringbuddy.com — including text, articles, blog posts, videos, infographics, tutorials, tutor profiles, and explanations — is owned by My Engineering Buddy or BlueAura iSolutions Private Limited unless otherwise stated. No content may be reproduced, republished, or used commercially without our prior written permission.

You may: read and use content for personal non-commercial learning; share links to our pages; quote brief portions (maximum 10% of an article) with clear attribution and a link to the original.

You may not: copy and republish our content as your own; translate and republish; use content commercially; scrape or bulk-download our website.

9.2 Session Materials

Session notes, worked examples, and explanations provided by tutors are prepared specifically for you and are intended for your personal learning. You may not commercially distribute, resell, or republish these materials.

9.3 Your Content

Any content you share with us (questions, documents, notes) remains your property. By sharing it, you grant MEB a limited licence to use it solely for the purpose of delivering the tutoring service you requested. We do not share your materials with other students.

10. Acceptable Use

By using our website and services, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, overload, or damage our website or servers
  • Use our support channels (WhatsApp, email, contact form) for spam, harassment, or unsolicited commercial messages
  • Impersonate another person, student, or MEB staff member
  • Create fake accounts or provide false information
  • Use our services for any unlawful purpose
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download our content
  • Attempt to access other students’ accounts, sessions, or data
  • Use our services to facilitate academic dishonesty — see Section 3

Violations of acceptable use may result in immediate termination of your access to MEB services without refund.

11. Warranties and Limitation of Liability

11.1 No Guarantee of Outcomes

MEB provides expert tutoring services with the goal of helping you learn and improve. However, we cannot guarantee specific grades, exam scores, admission to educational institutions, or improvement in academic performance. Your results depend on many factors outside our control, including your effort, starting knowledge level, exam conditions, and your institution’s marking standards.

11.2 Service Availability

We cannot guarantee the availability of a specific tutor at a specific time. We recommend booking in advance. While we maintain a large team of 1,000+ verified tutors, availability varies by subject, level, and time zone. In the event we cannot match you with a suitable tutor, we will inform you promptly and refund any payment made.

11.3 Technical Availability

We aim for continuous website and service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, technical failures, or circumstances outside our control may cause temporary interruptions. We are not liable for losses resulting from such interruptions.

11.4 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MEB’s total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific session or service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of grades, academic opportunities, or income.

11.5 Accuracy of Content

Our tutors are qualified subject experts and strive for accuracy in all explanations and guidance. However, tutors are human and errors can occur. If you identify an error in guidance provided, contact us immediately. We will correct it at no charge. See our Editorial Standards page for our content accuracy commitment.

12. Privacy

Your use of MEB is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights. By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days’ notice via email (where we hold your email address) or via a prominent notice on our website before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you disagree with material changes, you may discontinue use and request a refund for any pre-paid sessions not yet delivered.

14. Termination

14.1 Termination by You

You may stop using MEB’s services at any time. Refunds for unused pre-paid sessions will be processed per our Refund Policy.

14.2 Termination by MEB

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our services at any time if:

  • You violate these Terms, particularly the academic integrity provisions
  • You behave abusively, threateningly, or disrespectfully toward our tutors or staff
  • You provide false information or fraudulent payment details
  • Your use of our services causes harm to MEB, our tutors, or other students

In the event of termination for cause (misconduct, academic dishonesty), no refund will be issued for sessions already delivered. For termination not caused by your misconduct, we will refund any unused pre-paid sessions.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.

In the event of a dispute, we encourage you to contact us first to seek an informal resolution. Most disputes are resolved within 2–3 days through direct communication. Our grievance escalation process reaches our founder directly — see our Refund Policy escalation section.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. However, nothing in this clause prevents you from seeking consumer protection remedies available in your own country under applicable local laws.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a competent court to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or removed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions continue in full effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Academic Integrity Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MEB regarding your use of our services and supersede all prior agreements or understandings on the same subject matter.
